As the Senior Data and Modelling Lead, you will apply your advanced modelling and analytical expertise to support evidence-based decision-making and help shape policies in the Climate Change and Resiliency Division. You will lead, coach, and mentor a team, translate complex analytical work for diverse audiences, and ensure high-quality modelling products that inform senior leadership.

About the job

As a Senior Data and Modelling Lead, you will:

• Lead and coach a team delivering analytical and modelling work that supports ministry and division priorities;
• Direct complex analytical projects using advanced quantitative and modelling techniques to generate actionable insights;
• Manage project scope, timelines and deliverables while ensuring high-quality, credible modelling outputs;
• Present clear, accessible analysis, visualizations and briefings for senior leadership, up to the Deputy Minister;
• Provide expert advice on data requirements, modelling issues, risks and recommended solutions;
• Represent the branch on ministry and inter-ministerial initiatives to support consistent modelling practices.

Data, Modelling & Analytics Expertise

Apply deep analytical, modelling, and economic expertise to produce meaningful insights that support policy development.

• Strong knowledge of quantitative analysis, statistical methods, and advanced modelling techniques;
expertise in macro/microeconomics, environmental economics, forecasting, and policy research;
• Extensive experience designing, running, interpreting, and communicating environmental and economic modelling results;
• Ability to translate complex data into clear visualizations, dashboards, and concise analysis for decision-makers;
• Understanding of data governance, data management concepts, and information management best practices;
• Proficiency with standard office software, analytical tools, and data visualization platforms.

Project Planning & Management

Use your planning and organizational skills to lead complex analytical projects and ensure high-quality, timely results.

• Experience managing analytical and modelling projects with diverse partners and shifting priorities;
• Ability to plan, scope, schedule, and deliver complex analysis under tight and changing deadlines;
• Skill in identifying risks, assessing issues, and aligning resources to meet project objectives.

Communication, Collaboration & Relationship Building

Bring strong communication and collaboration skills to convey complex ideas and build productive relationships.

• Ability to explain technical and analytical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences;
• Strong written communication skills to prepare reports, briefing materials, and presentations for senior leadership;
• Confidence presenting modelling results to executives and external partners;
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across the branch, division, ministry, and with external stakeholders.
