About the job

As a Controllership and Risk Analyst, you'll help ensure sound financial management across the ministry. You'll work closely with teams to strengthen internal controls, assess risks, support decision making, and provide clear, practical advice that helps programs operate smoothly.

In this role, you will:
• provide day-to-day guidance on corporate card administration, payables, financial compliance, and other internal controls
• support our executive teams by answering inquiries and troubleshooting issues
• assess financial and business processes to identify risks and recommend improvements
• support quality assurance reviews and contribute to the Certificate of Assurance process
• monitor and maintain financial systems, ensuring appropriate controls and access

• you have strong communication skills and can explain financial matters clearly to different audiences
• you can build effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders
• you can provide training or guidance to staff and managers
• you can present information in a way that supports understanding and action

Analytical and problem-solving skills

• you can assess financial processes to identify issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• you have experience developing recommendations and practical solutions
• you can evaluate internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of information
• you can review business requirements and identify related controllership needs

Financial and controllership knowledge

• you have knowledge of internal control frameworks, financial policies, and risk management practices to support controllership activities

Data management and record keeping skills

• you can use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook to analyze information, prepare reports, and support day-to-day tasks
• you can work with financial systems and ensure proper controls and access are in place
• you can support system updates, templates, and data management tools
• you can organize and monitor documentation to maintain a strong audit trail
