We are seeking a dynamic Senior Statistics Advisor with an innovative mindset, strategic vision, and advanced technical expertise. In this role, you will lead statistical modelling, data analytics, and machine learning initiatives that that drive the development and implementation of a modern policing performance measurement framework to support evidence informed oversight for the Inspectorate of Policing.

The Inspectorate of Policing

The Inspectorate of Policing (IoP) is a new division established to meet the legislative mandate of the Inspector General of Policing under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 (CSPA). The IoP monitors, advises, conducts inspections and investigates complaints concerning the delivery of policing and compliance with the CSPA and its regulations, as well as investigates complaints related to board member misconduct.

About the job

As a statistics specialist, you will:

• Develop, implement and maintain statistical models using modelling techniques;
• Translate data and analytical results into actionable insights for senior leadership decision making;
• Lead and coordinate the planning and implementation of statistical and analytical projects;
• Provide consultation and coaching support to junior staff in relation to research and statistical methodologies, tools and processes;
• Participate in briefings to deliver presentations summarizing analytical findings and conclusions up to the
Assistant Deputy Minister level;
• Design and develop communication plans and processes;
• Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with policing sector stakeholders, national and international oversight agencies , data and analytics related networks and academia.

What you bring to the team


Statistical and Technical Knowledge:

• You bring strong expertise in statistical modelling techniques, enabling you to identify key trends, detect patterns, and forecast future outcomes in support of operations and strategic decision-making.
• You have strong proficiency in statistical methodologies and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python, Stata, SPSS), and machine learning models to produce high-quality, analytically sound results and insights.
• You possess strong knowledge of performance measurement frameworks, KPIs, and monitoring tools, and are skilled at translating complex analyses into compelling dashboards, visualizations, and presentations that support executive-level decision-making.
• You can translate research and analytical findings into practical recommendations that support the strategic objectives of the IoP's strategic plan.

Project Management and Leadership skills:

• You can effectively lead and manage statistical and analytical projects to achieve defined goals and deliver high quality results.
• You can lead the development and implementation of data strategies in collaboration with other IoP branches and IT clusters, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
• You can design and implement data collection processes, methods, and strategies that optimize statistical efficiency, strengthen data governance, and ensure rigorous data quality practices.
• You can coordinate project documentation and prepare comprehensive analytical reports and briefing materials, including actionable recommendations to support senior leadership decision-making.
•You can provide direction/guidance to staff assigned to projects/studies and to mentor/coach junior staff.
• You can independently plan and prioritize your work across multiple areas of responsibility.

Communication skills:

• You can communicate information clearly, verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences individually and in groups as well as prepare clear and effective briefing, reports and presentation materials;
• You can present research and analytical results to non-technical professionals.

Relationship Management and Collaboration skills:

• You can develop and strengthen networks and partnerships with other ministries, data and analytics research partners, and key external stakeholders to support effective collaboration on data and research projects.
