In this pivotal role, you will plan, lead, and coordinate application and infrastructure support while designing and developing innovative technical solutions that ensure the stability, performance, and evolution of a mission-critical platform replacing legacy systems used for over 30 years. As part of the Modernization Branch, you will collaborate closely with internal business, project, and IT partners, as well as external vendors, to resolve issues, enhance system functionality, and support continuous improvement.

About Us:The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) protects some of Ontario's most vulnerable individuals and the public interest. The OPGT manages the financial and personal affairs of mentally incapable adults when no one else can, makes medical decisions on their behalf, and administers estates where there is no will or next of kin. The OPGT also manages assets of dissolved corporations, investigates allegations of serious harm involving vulnerable adults, oversees court-held funds on behalf of minors and litigants, and safeguards charitable property.

About the job
As a Lead Application Developer, you will:
• support and enhance the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations) – based system, by leading application support and development, triaging and troubleshooting issues, and application performance monitoring
• coordinate and deliver technical changes, releases, and upgrades to ensure system stability and performance
• work with business, project, and IT teams to gather requirements, develop solutions, and improve processes
• lead and support IT projects from planning through implementation, including working with vendors and consultants
• provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues, guide decision-making, and ensure alignment with government I&IT standards
• support data quality, documentation, and system workflows to maintain reliable and secure information management
What you bring to the team
Technical Skills:
You can demonstrate:
• strong understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (F&O) ERP suite.
• knowledge of current and emerging I&IT technologies, including infrastructure, applications, databases, and security, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure cloud, Synapse/ADF, Power Platform.
• knowledge of application development processes, system integration concepts, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• proven ability to design, build, or oversee technical solutions that align with best practices in security, privacy, quality, and performance in a modern cloud environment
Quality Assurance, Quality Control & Compliance Skills:
You can demonstrate:
• an understanding of quality assurance practices, documentation standards, testing approaches, and quality control techniques, with a focus on testing automation
• knowledge of data management and workflow principles, including data integrity, documentation, and access controls
Project Management Skills:
You can demonstrate the ability to:
• estimate timelines and resources, manage budgets, track progress, and monitor risks and issues
• evaluate project needs, identify options, and recommend solutions that balance timelines, risks, and business requirements
• familiarity with product management tools such as Azure DevOps and with Agile methodologies
