The User Policy Office is seeking a strategic and analytical Policy Advisor to conduct research, lead studies, and develop policy proposals that support our long-term transportation goals. In this role, you'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, analyze complex data, and provide insightful recommendations that influence decision-making at the highest levels.

About the job
In this role, you will:
- research and analyze transportation issues to help shape policies that support the ministry's strategic goals.
- work with data and studies to understand the economic, safety, and operational impacts of transportation systems.
- collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather insights, share findings, and stay informed on emerging transportation trends.
- prepare reports and recommendations that inform senior decision-makers and contribute to government submissions and presentations.
What you bring to the team
Policy experience
You have experience with:
• policy and legislative processes
• program development and implementation
• applying policy and research tools, methods and techniques
• interpreting and applying policy, procedures and legislation
Research, evaluation and analysis
You can:
• apply experience with various research methodologies and techniques to gather qualitative and quantitative data, conduct environmental scans and identify trends and emerging issues
• contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards/guidelines
• demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
• assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals for evidence-based recommendations
Relationship building and communication
You have:
• experience with creating and managing relationships with internal and external partners
• consultation skills and can provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs to stakeholders
• developed communication skills to respond to issues, provide recommendation and prepare reports using a variety of computer software
• presentation skills to create, lead and present research findings to senior management
Planning and organizational
You can:
• plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines ands shifting priorities
• participate in project planning and tracking
