About the job

In this role, you will:
• Conduct research and qualitative/quantitative analysis to inform energy efficiency and demand management policy.
• Develop policy proposals and guide them through government decision making, considering objectives, costs, system needs, legal risks, and stakeholder input.
• Lead projects by setting goals, managing processes and risks, and briefing senior leadership.
• Monitor agency, utility, and sector-led initiatives, facilitating dialogue and setting expectations.
• Prepare clear, evidence based briefing materials, communications, and correspondence using strong writing and presentation skills.
• Track performance and benchmarks to assess policy effectiveness and recommend improvements.

What you bring to the team


Policy Development and Coordination Skills

You have:
• Ability to research, analyze data, interpret findings, and develop sound policy and program recommendations.
• Experience leading complex, concurrent projects and navigating senior level or government decision making processes.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
• Experience managing high profile, sensitive policy or project issues.
• Experience developing or implementing initiatives for Indigenous communities and/or underrepresented groups.

Research and Analytical Skills

You have:
• Experience using research methodologies to gather reliable data from diverse sources.
• Ability to model and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop evidence based policy options.
• Expertise in evaluating options using economic analysis, cost considerations, practicality, and stakeholder/system impacts.
• Experience developing and applying performance measures to assess the effectiveness of policies and programs.

Communications and Interpersonal Skills

You have:
• Strong listener with the ability to navigate differing viewpoints and build support across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to clearly present policy options, strategies, and issues to senior leaders and engage effectively with agencies and stakeholders.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to quickly prepare high quality briefing materials and collaborate using common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, databases, presentation software).

Industry Knowledge

You have:
• Understanding of the economic, environmental, legal, and political factors that shape policy development in the energy sector or related fields.
• Knowledge of Ontario's energy industry and key concepts in energy generation, distribution, end use demand, and efficient energy use (or comparable concepts from a related sector).
