About the job
As a Corridor Management Officer, you are the ministry's “one window” for reviewing and approving work near provincial highways. Each day includes permit reviews, site visits, problem-solving, and collaboration with applicants, municipalities, utilities, and internal teams. You'll balance public needs with safety, policy, and long-term corridor planning to support a safe, efficient highway network.
You'll work both in the office and in the field, managing a high volume of applications and using digital mapping and permit tools to inform your decisions. If you enjoy analytical work, public service, and seeing the real-world impact of your efforts, this role offers meaningful and varied work.
Each day brings something different, but your work will typically include:
• reviewing and processing permit applications for work near provincial highways, ensuring proposals meet safety, design, and legislative requirements
• conducting site visits and corridor patrols to check for compliance, identify unauthorized work or encroachments, and work with applicants to resolve issues
• coordinating utility relocations for ministry construction projects by reviewing plans, resolving conflicts, issuing Move Orders, and tracking timelines and costs
• providing clear guidance to property owners, municipalities, utilities, developers, and the public as the ministry's primary point of contact for corridor-related inquiries
• working with technical teams across the ministry to review proposals, share information, and support consistent, well-informed decisions
• managing a high volume of permits, inquiries, and meetings by prioritizing workload and maintaining well-organized digital records
• using digital mapping and permit management tools to review applications and support sound corridor planning
Note: The successful candidates will be required to travel on a bi-weekly basis within the region.
