About the job

In this role, you will:
• Identify emerging opportunities to improve the sustainability of the provincial transportation system
• Lead, plan and participate in transportation research, policy, planning studies and projects related to environmental assessment and protection
• Develop, recommend and implement transportation related environmental policies
• Prepare and present policy and technical reports to address strategic transportation issues associated with environmental assessment and natural protection
• Plan and participate on transportation studies and projects that affect the province
• Provide advice and establish partnerships with stakeholders to work on transportation-related environmental policy initiatives
• Review, prepare and present technical reports, documents prepare and evidence based recommendations to senior decision makers

What you bring to the team


Environmental and Transportation Knowledge

You have:
• Knowledge of environmental management theories, practices, land-use planning policy, sustainable transportation and environmental impacts of transportation systems
• Knowledge of theories and practices related to federal and provincial environmental assessment and protection legislation, policies and standards to identify emerging issues and provide advice
• Knowledge of the transportation development processes, maintenance and operations practices to lead and coordinate environmental studies and projects

Policy and Analytical Skills

You have:
• Knowledge of ministry and government policy development and planning processes, business plans and strategic directions to review, evaluate and provide advice on environmental policy issues
• Knowledge of data collection methods and can plan research methodology and strategy for complex policy research projects

Consultation and Communication Skills

You can:
• Consult, negotiate and build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare and present briefings, reports and analysis on policy issues for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences

Project Management Skills

• You have project management skills to lead concurrent project, studies and project teams

Computer Skills

• You have proficiency of computer software applications to prepare and present reports and statistical analysis
