We're hiring an Enforcement/Collections Officer to join the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund (MVACF) team in the Insurance and Claims Services Branch. This role is all about helping people understand their responsibilities and working with them to find solutions. You'll manage a variety of accounts, including complex and sensitive cases, and use your problem-solving and communication skills to protect public funds.

In this role, you will:
• determine and initiate the most effective and timely type of progressive collection/enforcement action
• negotiate best possible repayment arrangement within predetermined parameters
• liaise with drivers licensing agencies across Canada and the United States
• research information to properly evaluate assets to negotiate repayment arrangements
• review work priorities and establish time schedules
• update system edits through a Case Management System
• initiate and recommend appropriate legal action in a progressive manner
• respond to verbal/written inquiries
• manage bankruptcy/consumer proposal portfolio
• review and recommend the write-off of uncollectible accounts
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.
Collection and financial knowledge
You have:
• an understanding of collection/enforcement techniques, policies, and procedures
• the ability to interpret and apply relevant sections of legislation (i.e. Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Act and Highway Traffic Act)
• knowledge of accounting methods to research and analyze financial data
Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
You can:
• research and analyze information to determine effective collection/enforcement actions
• analyze financial data and documents to extract relevant information
• identify problems and provide solutions regarding processes and procedures
Organizational and judgment skills
You can:
• plan, organize, and prioritize work activities to deal with a diverse array of work situations
• make quick and informed decisions on time sensitive issues that can be complex in nature
Computer and technical skills
You can:
• use computer systems and standard office software programs (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel)
• use information systems to search, extract, reconcile, analyze, and report on various data
• learn and use Case Management Systems to manage a portfolio of accounts
Communication & interpersonal skills
You have:
• verbal communication skills to explain legislative requirements and negotiate repayment terms
• the ability to stay calm and respectful when working with people in difficult or emotional situations
• written communication skills to prepare correspondence and reports
