Are you a seasoned Network and Telecommunications Architect with a strong engineering design foundation and experience in large, complex enterprise environments? Join a collaborative, senior-level architecture team to design and shape the next generation of public-sector digital and infrastructure services.

About the job

The Infrastructure Technology and Operations Division (ITOD), Telecommunications Services Branch within GovTechON, is seeking two Senior I&IT Architects to provide architecture leadership across network security and campus networking.

The organization currently operates using a managed service model in which service providers build and operate solutions. Architects set architectural direction, define standards, and provide integration guidance, while remaining hands-on as needed to support new capabilities, architectural evaluations, solution integration, and high-impact initiatives.

You will work closely with service providers, internal teams, and ministries to design secure, resilient, and scalable architectures that align with enterprise objectives. All architects are expected to embed security-by-design principles into their work, regardless of primary focus.

Each role has a primary focus area:
• Network security architecture, including zero trust network access (ZTNA), secure service edge (SSE), next-generation firewalls (NGFW), network access control (NAC / 802.1X), and enterprise network security patterns
• Campus network architecture, including wired and wireless networks, identity-based access, and secure campus network design

While each position has a primary focus, the architecture team works collaboratively across domains, products, and services.

As part of our team, you will:
• lead the design and enablement of enterprise IT architecture solutions, with a strong focus on networking, security, and core infrastructure services
• support multi-ministry initiatives by developing smart, scalable, and secure architecture strategies
• provide architecture leadership within your primary domain, including the development of reference architectures, architecture standards, and roadmaps that guide technology evolution and inform practical design decisions
• evaluate technologies and architectures (e.g., new connectivity models, modern security access services)
• be accountable for architectural outcomes and actively support successful execution through close collaboration with service providers and key stakeholders
• translate business, security, and operational requirements into robust, scalable, and secure network architectures
• review, provide architectural input on, and guide service provider designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and risk tolerance
• develop integration designs across multiple service providers and platforms
• support critical implementation and change activities for complex or high-impact initiatives

What you bring to the team

Technical knowledge and experience

You have:
• knowledge of architecture frameworks, particularly within infrastructure and/or network security domains
• demonstrated engineering design experience delivering large-scale enterprise implementations across one or more of the following areas: ZTNA, SSE, identity-based access, network segmentation, and wireless-first campuses
• proven depth in one or more enterprise networking or network security domains, paired with the willingness and capability to contribute across related domains and continuously build new expertise
• working knowledge of routing and traffic engineering, enabling effective cross-domain architecture design and collaboration
• ability to assess architectural risk and thoughtfully balance security, resiliency, operability, and user experience
• experience producing, reviewing, and validating architecture artefacts such as reference architectures, solution designs, and integration patterns
• familiarity with industry standards, performance management practices, change management processes, and service delivery models

Analytical and strategic thinking

You are:
• able to design architecture solutions for complex, long-term initiatives
• skilled at solving integration challenges and navigating unclear or evolving requirements
• able to research, evaluate, and recommend innovative architecture strategies
• comfortable developing performance measures and adapting to new technologies

Communication skills

You are:
• confident in presenting architectural strategies and recommendations to senior executives
• able to explain complex technical concepts in clear, business-friendly language
• experienced in advising stakeholders and promoting architecture best practices

Collaboration and consultation

You have:
