Join our team as a maintenance professional with OCWAIn this role, you will act as a group leader to provide guidance and direction to staff in the planning and organizing and providing electrical and/or mechanical services to ensure the efficient upkeep of existing process machinery, auxiliary plant equipment and mechanical installations by the timely performance of scheduled inspections, maintenance, and repairs and to carry out modifications or new installations in accordance with approved programs in advanced Class 4 water treatment facilities and distribution system.

Licensing Requirements
• Consideration will be given to those holding a valid Millwright License and/or other trade certification, or those who have the ability to obtain a valid Millwright License and/or other trade certification.
• Must have a Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP).
• Ability to obtain Operator in Training (OIT) in the appropriate discipline as per the applicable regulation (O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and/or O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act).
• Valid Class G Drivers licence.
• Ability to work on a 8 hour days, 5 days per week schedule and be available to work on an on-call basis.
Knowledge
• Thorough knowledge of industrial maintenance, repair and rigging processes of a variety of equipment and structures dealing with hydraulic, electric and mechanical plant equipment such as: , pumps, valves, fittings, piping, tanks, boilers, fluidized bed incinerators, high pressure vessels, hydraulic pumps, centrifuges, Gen-Sets, pneumatic systems, compressors etc.
• Thorough knowledge to plan and maintain equipment by organizing scheduled maintenance practices and recordings.
• Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental legislation and the policies, procedures and regulations that apply to this work and have practical knowledge and be conversant with the current Ontario Electrical Safety Code and its practices.
• Performs skilled trade work and is responsible for the planning and maintenance, electronic instrumentation equipment and control system overhauling, installation and maintenance of all processes in an advanced water or wastewater facility environment.
• Inspects, tests, records, monitors, and performs analysis, evaluation, selection, integration, installation and maintenance on electronic and instrumentation control devices and systems used in major water/wastewater facilities and ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge, experience and ability to work in an environment using hazardous chemicals associated with the water treatment processes. Knowledge of procurement principles and best practices to purchase equipment and services from vendors and suppliers.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of computers including operation of various software programs (e.g. Maintenance Management System) and ability to make necessary calculations and interpret data.

• Team leadership skills to direct, mentor and guide staff. Judgement and decision making skills to provide direction to staff on projects, work and priorities.
• Interpersonal skills to provide direction, advice and recommendations to management, contractors, equipment suppliers, project staff and other Agency personnel.
• Problem solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot make timely decisions to address work priorities and emergencies.
• Good oral and written communication skills to give advice and instructions and keep logs.
• Physical dexterity and ability to work in confined spaces, dirty and/or noisy environments and in all weather conditions.
• Ability to use and understand operating and maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications.
