About the job

In this role, you'll lead business and financial planning, provide strategic advice, and support provincial transportation and transit funding decisions. You'll work closely with leaders and partners to align resources with ministry goals.

You can expect to:
• Oversee financial planning, expenditure management, and revenue forecasting for the ministry's agencies
• Develop business plans and secure resources to support ministry and agency priorities
• Advise senior leaders and central agencies on performance and priorities
• Lead and support project teams by coordinating plans, and tracking deliverables
• Analyze data to identify risks and recommend solutions that support organizational goals
• Build partnerships, inform stakeholders, and develop strategic options for senior management

What you bring to the team


Financial and business planning knowledge

You have knowledge of:
• government/ministry business and financial operations, processes and structure, sound business practices, systems analysis and evaluation
• financial management principles, policies and practices
• budget allocation/tracking processes, expenditure forecasting and variance/risk analysis
• theories, principles and best practices of business/fiscal planning and performance management

Leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills

You can:
• manage projects and lead a team of professionals
• anticipate and evaluate complex situations, potential impacts, and identify solutions
• interpret and apply ministry legislation, policies, standards, priorities, and government policy direction

Communication and interpersonal skills

You can:
• present and persuade senior management and stakeholders on complex risk, prevention strategies, and critical business/financial issues
• draft clear and concise written products to communicate complex financial information to a variety of audiences
• use tact and diplomacy when discussing complex and sensitive matters

Technology skills

You have demonstrated experience:
• using standard desktop applications like word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and specialized financial systems to conduct in-depth analyses and consolidate complex financial information into standard reports
