We are seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to provide expert policy leadership, advance priority initiatives, and support evidence based decision making at a critical time for the province's health system.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the centre of health policy development, advising the Associate Deputy Minister, Clinical Care and Delivery, and other senior executives on high impact issues. You will work alongside a dedicated, high performing team to support policies and programs that improve outcomes for Ontarians.

About the job

The Senior Policy Advisor provides strategic policy leadership and expert advice to support ministry objectives and complex policy initiatives.

In this role, you will:
• Provide policy leadership to support provincial policy and program development
• Advance ministry and divisional priorities by addressing priority issues
• Lead projects to develop, implement, and evaluate the public health system performance framework
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
• Promote strategic priorities to inform policy and operations

What you bring to the team


Policy and Program Expertise

You have:
• Knowledge of policy and program development and government decision making processes.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills

You have:
• Expertise in building and managing complex partner relationships.
• The ability to collaborate, resolve issues, and negotiate shifting priorities.
• Experience leading partner consultations to achieve shared understanding.

Judgement, Evaluation and Analytical Skills

You have:
• Sound judgment, political acuity, and sensitivity to complex issues.
• The ability to assess policy and program effectiveness against ministry priorities.
• Knowledge of program analysis and evaluation to support performance measurement.

Project Management

You have:
• Experience leading projects from concept to completion within established timelines.
• The ability to provide project leadership and advice to multidisciplinary teams.

Communication Skills

You have:
• Written communication skills to prepare recommendations, reports, and issue responses.
• Experience briefing senior management on complex policy issues.
