About the job

In this role, you will:

• Help lead and support the park's maintenance team to keep facilities, infrastructure, and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming.
• Support planning and coordination of maintenance and capital work, including scheduling people, equipment, and resources to meet park needs.
• Promote a safe workplace by supporting training, safe work practices, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Monitor park assets and projects, identifying maintenance needs and supporting oversight of contractors and external trades.
• Interact with park visitors, partners, and staff to provide information, address concerns, and support respectful, lawful use of the park.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Ability to be designated as a Park Warden and complete ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force
• Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule

Technical Maintenance Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and construction principles, relevant trades, building codes, and safe operation of equipment used in public park environments.
• Ability to assess asset condition, identify risks and priorities, and contribute informed input to maintenance and capital project decisions.

Leadership, Supervision, and Team Coordination

• Demonstrated ability to provide day-to-day group leadership, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and supporting staff development in a structured, inclusive workplace.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and work effectively with employees, volunteers, and contractors.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• Clear, professional oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, park visitors, contractors, and partner agencies.
• Ability to use common computerized systems and tools to support communication, documentation, and reporting.

Planning, Organizational, and Problem-Solving Skills

• Ability to plan and organize work, manage competing priorities, and exercise judgement in a dynamic operational setting.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess issues, determine appropriate responses, and escalate matters when required.

Knowledge of Legislative, Policy, and Safety Requirements

• Awareness of, and ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation, policies, and standards governing park operations, public safety, and law enforcement activities.
• Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities, including hazard awareness, compliance, and promotion of safe work practices.
