This role will support the Northeast and Northwest Project Delivery sections in delivering their major capital programs.
About the job
In this role, you will:
• direct the activities of the contract review unit
• plan, develop and coordinate a review program for the detailed analysis of regional contract drawings
• provide advice and guidance to engineering staff and consultants on interpretation of policy pertaining to contract review methodology
• implement review and quality assurance procedures
• provide expertise on the development of policy standards, specifications and other guidelines
• facilitate preparation of contract packages
• prepare reports and make presentations on review findings
NOTE: The successful candidate could work either 447 McKeown Avenue in North Bay or 70 Foster Drive, Sault Ste. Marie. Should the candidate work from Sault Ste. Marie, occasional travel to North Bay will be a requirement of this role.
What you bring to the team
Highway Design and Contract Experience
• You have proven ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications
• You have knowledge of the proper application of contract drawings in the tendering process
• You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant highway engineering standards, specifications and special provisions
• You have knowledge of practices and guidelines pertaining to contract documentation review methodology and tendering practices
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• You have well developed communication skills to prepare reports and deal effectively with senior management, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders
• You are able to provide technical supervision, guidance and support to staff
Leadership and Analytical Skills
• You have proven administrative and supervisory skills
• You can provide direction to staff and monitor progress
• You have proven analytical and problem solving skills to assess a variety of technical data
