About the job
The Trust Fund Services Unit is part of the Employment Practices Branch, which supports Ontario's Employment Standards Program. The unit manages the receipt and disbursement of funds related to orders to pay and notices of contravention under the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and the Employee Protection for Foreign Nationals Act (EPFNA).
In this role, you'll help ensure these funds are handled accurately, fairly, and in compliance with legislation. You'll work with internal teams and external partners to process payments, resolve issues, and provide clear financial guidance, supporting confidence in public services and fair outcomes for workers and employers.
You will:
• manage trust fund transactions, including deposits, payments, and reconciliations, following policies and legislation
• verify and process payments, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records
• provide clear financial advice and responsive service to management and stakeholders
• support financial controls through reviews, audits, reporting, and process improvements
• build positive relationships and contribute to a respectful, collaborative team environment
What you bring to the team
Financial accounting knowledge and technical skills
You have:
• knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and controls, with the ability to review and analyze complex financial information
• experience preparing reports, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining quality in financial data
• proficiency with financial systems and common software tools (e.g., spreadsheets and word processing) to support reporting and analysis
Communication, client service and interpersonal skills
You have:
• clear communication skills to explain financial processes and policies to a range of stakeholders
• client-focused approach with the ability to handle requests using tact, discretion, and sound judgment
• the ability to assess situations and determine when to escalate issues
Organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
You have:
• analytical skills to complete financial analysis and conduct quality assurance reviews
• attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial information and processes
• organizational and problem-solving skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
