We seek two (2) counsel to join the Family Responsibility Office Legal Services Branch (FRO LSB) to provide litigation services and advisory support to FRO in enforcing family support orders and domestic contracts and in all aspects of its operation.
About the job
Reporting to the Legal Director and Deputy Legal Director, you will:
• Work as a key member of the legal services team to deliver high-quality, client-focused litigation and legal advisory services to FRO relating to the enforcement of support orders and domestic contracts
• Provide sound, risk-based and solutions-oriented legal advice and opinions, both written and oral, to FRO's operational branches on a wide variety of matters relating to FRO's mandate and case-specific issues, often on an urgent basis
• Actively participate in various branch committees supporting branch operational and strategic priorities and equity and inclusion initiatives

Mandatory requirements
• Membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario
Knowledge and Skills
• Demonstrated litigation and negotiation experience
• Ability and experience to work to strict deadlines in a high-volume litigation environment
• Ability to inspire client confidence and work effectively as a team member
• Demonstrated customer service orientation
• Proven oral advocacy, legal research and written communication skills
• Proven analytical skills and judgment, and flexibility and ability to provide innovative solutions to complex problems
• Knowledge of the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act, 1996, the Family Law Act, the Family Law Rules, the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
• Knowledge and experience in family law is an asset
• Experience working constructively on teams of diverse members and demonstrated interest in OPS priorities relating to diversity
