About the job
In this role you will:• Maintain accurate and controlled records of client billings and accounts investigate and resolve billing and overdue account issues.
• Perform analysis of aged receivable balances and pursue collection of overdue accounts.
• Prepare monthly billings to clients, analyze customer overdue accounts and identify high-risk customers.
• Investigate and resolve overdue account problems; analyze accounts receivable control account and reconcile to account receivable sub-ledger.
• Support financial analysts in monthly analysis of Hub margins, investigate variances and research causes of variances.
• Provide training to management and other staff on billing and conducting inquiries and the collection module in Microsoft Great Plains.
• Assist with the preparation and issuance of annual billing statements, and year-end billing reconciliations.
• Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the team
Knowledge
• Knowledge of accounting principles in order to complete reconciliations and perform month-end duties.
• Revenue policies, procedures, billing and collection practices are required to enforce compliance and collect delinquent accounts.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains (GP) to issue invoices, reconcile and analyze customer accounts and to respond to client account inquiries.
• In depth knowledge of accounts receivable processing ensuring accuracy and completeness of monthly Operation & Maintenance (O&M) billings, to prepare reports and client account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of arithmetic to calculate, balance and reconcile accounts, including reviewing documents and resolving discrepancies with clients.
• Operation of word-processing, spreadsheet software and power point presentation software to prepare correspondence, reconciliation reports and presentations.
• Debt collection protocol and collection techniques to conduct tactful email and mail investigations, to ensure collection of overdue accounts
Skills and Ability include
• Job requires analytical skills to be able to review payment patterns and identify high-risk accounts; to investigate and resolve client account inquiries.
• Job requires attention to detail, ability to drill –down, investigate and analyze detail to determine root cause of transaction /issue, to resolve client account issues and to perform month-end duties.
• Job requires judgment skills to determine the most progressive collection action and at what point collection activities have been exhausted and when to recommend, for review and approval by manager, that client account be written off. Interpersonal skills are required to deal with collections as it relates to the sensitivity of client's account due to political issues or renegotiation of contracts.
• Organizational skills are required to prioritize work activities to deal with a diverse array of work situations.
• Job requires use of tactful telephone manners and negotiation skills to deal with difficult situations and to persuade and influence Business Development Managers in the collection of overdue accounts
