About the job
Working on diverse and challenging land-use planning related projects, you will:
• Lead and advise staff on land use planning issues and projects.
• Develop and manage multiple planning applications, projects, and policy initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, provincial policies, and planning principles.
• Provide strategic advice and manage emerging planning issues.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including municipalities and partner ministries.
• Deliver training and contribute to branch and project work planning.
Note: This position requires occasional travel within the region to conduct field work
What you bring to the team
Specialized Knowledge:
You have:
• Knowledge of the
Planning Act, land use planning system, related legislation, and policy development processes.
• Understanding of planning theories, principles, and professional standards for conducting land use planning analyses.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply community planning legislation effectively.
Team Leadership and Project Management Skills:
You have:
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and cross-functional teams to meet ministry objectives on time.
• Strong leadership skills to build partnerships, resolve stakeholder issues, and align outcomes with organizational goals.
Communication Skills:
You are:
• Skilled in preparing and presenting complex materials, including briefing notes, policy papers, and official correspondence.
• Experienced in representing government interests with stakeholders, inter-ministerial committees, and public forums.
• Confident in delivering expert advice and briefings to senior management, the Minister, and key stakeholders.
Interpersonal Skills:
You can:
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members and key partners.
• Manage stakeholder and interest group relationships across ministry initiatives.
• Foster collaboration and build consensus to support shared goals.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You are:
• Skilled in using research methods and tools to conduct complex planning analyses.
• Able to evaluate policy impacts and planning issues, and provide informed recommendations.
