Diverse Talent Stream To support enterprise-wide workforce diversification objectives, a Diverse Talent Stream has been created for eligible Summer Employment Opportunities program (SEO) applicants who meet the skills required for the available positions and who self-identify as belonging to any of the following four underrepresented groups: (1) Indigenous Persons, (2) Persons with Disabilities, (3) Black Persons, (4) Bilingual (French/English) Persons. Across the Ontario Public Service (OPS), a proportion of SEO positions have been reserved to recruit students from the Diverse Talent Stream, enabling enhanced access to employment for eligible candidates who self-identify as belonging to any of the four specified groups. As part of the application process, all applicants must respond to the following self-attestation question however, participation in the Diverse Talent Stream is completely voluntary. Refer to the Summer Employment Opportunities website for definitions of the four groups to confirm if you are eligible for the Diverse Talent Stream.
Self-attestation: Do you self-identify as belonging to any of the four groups specified above AND wish to participate in the Diverse Talent Stream? If you select “Yes”, your application will be considered for both the Diverse Talent Stream as well as the all-applicant talent stream. If you select “No” or “I prefer not to answer”, your application will be considered for the all-applicant talent stream only.
Notice of collection The personal information collected in this self-attestation is necessary for the proper administration of the Diverse Talent Stream however, your decision to participate and disclose personal information is completely voluntary. The Diverse Talent Stream is a recruitment initiative administered within the SEO program that has been developed to further the objectives of the OPS Anti-Racism Policy, the OPS Inclusion & Diversity Blueprint, and Ontario’s French Language Services Strategy.
The personal information collected within the self-attestation will be used in an identifiable format to establish talent lists for the Diverse Talent Stream; these lists will be shared with OPS hiring managers who have elected to recruit from the Diverse Talent Stream stating you identified as belonging to one of the four groups however, these managers will not have access to information regarding which specific group you self-identify with. The information collected in the secondary disclosure (that related to which underrepresented group(s) you self-identify as belonging to), is being requested to support the evaluation of the Diverse Talent Stream and will be used in a de-identified, aggregate format by designated representatives within the Corporate Talent Programs Branch, Treasury Board Secretariat to analyze the effectiveness of the program at attracting candidates from each of the four specified groups. Personal information collected in this attestation will be retained securely by the Student Employment Unit within the Treasury Board Secretariat. This information may be reported in de-identified, aggregate format to designated members of OPS leadership to report on key outcomes of the Diverse Talent Stream, including the distribution of applications received from eligible candidates as well as the number of positions successfully filled through this initiative.
Contact: If you have any questions about the collection and management of your personal information, you may contact the Student Employment Unit, Treasury Board Secretariat at SEO@ontario.ca. Consent: By completing this attestation, you are voluntarily consenting to the OPS collecting and using your personal information as indicated in this Notice of Collection and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). You agree that you have read and understand this Notice and Consent, and any information you provide will be true and accurate.
