Purpose of Position :

As a member of a Provincial Park team, under general supervision of Senior Operations Technician, provides
clerical and information services associated with preparing inventories, displaying, and selling park merchandise
and permits to visitors and reconciliation of funds received in the day-to-day operation of the park.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Assists in the operation of a Provincial Park by:
- receiving inventory and maintaining record of products and supplies
- checking quantities for condition and noting damages, shortages, etc.
- monitoring inventory and prepare orders for restocking store
- displaying merchandise in an attractive manner to achieve maximum customer appeal
- cash handling and receiving revenue personally from the sale of merchandise
- completing shift end revenue and reconciliation reports in accordance with Ministry and park accounting
practices and policies
- Administering and maintaining rental equipment including water crafting and winter equipment including skis,
snowshoes and skates
- preparing annual reports and recommendations for supervisor with respect to suppliers,
- quality of service and product, pricing structure, operational plans and routines and customer satisfaction
- ensuring that the store and visitor centre is constantly maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition and
that the store facility and grounds are maintained in a well kept and presentable condition
- providing general information to store visitors with respect to other programs and
- services within the park and surrounding area
- acting in a professional, courteous manner when dealing with customers, suppliers, and staff
- providing minimal first aid and emergency service if required
- Reporting revenues via a computerized campground information system.
- Answers enquiries, taking messages, delivering messages taking reservations both verbally and written.
- Assists in providing training and leadership to Students.
- Provides First Aid and Emergency Services.
- Assist other members of park team and in ministry program areas as required.

NOTE: Required to work shift work, weekends and stat holidays

Staffing and Licencing :

Possession of valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence.

Knowledge :

General knowledge of retail sales procedures and practices;
knowledge of accounting processes;
basic knowledge and skill in cash handling and record keeping
knowledge of office practices and general clerical processes to process reservations and issue permits.
knowledge of personal computers including ministry software applications to complete reports.

Skills :

Able to work in fast pace environment with multiple priorities. The position requires interpersonal, oral and
written communication skills to provide effective customer service and prepare correspondence.
Good organizational and mathematical skills to handle cash and balance funds.
Data entry skills to use personal computers including corporate software application to enter data and complete
reports.

Freedom of Action :

Position works under daily supervision in a team environment working within established policies/guidelines and
ministry business practices. Position discusses matters not covered by procedures or instructions with the
supervisor.
