The Ministry of Transportation seeks an enthusiastic, results oriented leader with civil engineering expertise to deliver the regional Corridor Management Section in the Provincial Highways Management Division.
About the job
In this role you will:
• manage and coordinate the activities of the Corridor Management section staff
• plan, organize and manage regional corridor management functions and activities
• provide land use planning and engineering expertise and resources to regional senior management
• provide technical advise on permit applications, development proposals, land use proposals and other related issues
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Applicants must be licensed with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
Leadership Skills:
• You have proven strong leadership and managerial skills to lead, motivate and develop staff
• You have the demonstrated ability to identify and successfully resolve complex and contentious issues
• You have excellent planning, organizational and project management skills to plan and coordinate work plans and resources, establish performance measures and assess effectiveness
Communication, Negotiation and Relationship-Building Skills:
• You have excellent consultation, negotiation, communication and presentation skills to promote consensus, negotiate agreements, provide advice and information as well as make presentations and prepare reports
• You have the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, associates, senior officials, developers and the public
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
• You have advanced knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of civil engineering with an emphasis on transportation planning, corridor management and highway design
• You have working knowledge of economics and budgeting to develop and review multi-year work plans and budgets
Analytical, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills:
• You have proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess requests for deviations from ministry policies, provide thorough review for approval or refusal of permits and correct infractions using progressive measures
