The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Election Readiness Division, seeks two highly motivated and organized individuals to assist with the development, implementation and execution of programs and projects that support electoral and referenda events.

About the job

You will:

• assist with activities related to the Select and Secure Voting Locations project and associated field assignments, including guidance and direction to assigned staff;
• prepare documentation and participate, as necessary, in procurement activities;
• research, review, consult and propose changes to the operational and accessibility standards for voting locations;
• establish and maintain relationships with school boards, municipalities, public administrators and private landlords for the purpose of identifying and securing voting locations;
• develop, implement and track multiple assignments for 122 Returning Officers in order to identify, inspect, publish, remediate and secure thousands of voting locations across Ontario;
• manage voting locations data and prepare content for publishing on Elections Ontario's website;
• review, catalog and draft responses to public feedback;
• assist in determining a remediation strategy to ensure accessibility of voting locations;
• track and report on the remediation requirements and costs for voting locations;
• track status and support the lease signing activities by Returning Officers;
• provide level 2 support for field enquiries received through the Returning Office Support Network;
• provide word processing, proofreading support for the production of a variety of documents using prescribed software; and
• provide process and technical support to field stakeholders, in both event and non-event periods and respond to operational inquiries from Returning Officers and their staff regarding electoral information pertaining to any aspect of an electoral event.

What you bring to the team


Qualifications

• experience assisting with large or complex projects
• highly developed administrative skills and demonstrated progressive experience in applying administrative procedures and practices to a range of advanced administrative and project support services;
• excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills;
• strong multi-tasking, organizational, planning, coordination and relationship management skills;
• highly developed oral and written communication skills;
• understanding of the requirements and provisions of the Election Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act relating to electoral event delivery; and
• excellent computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of tools, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
