If you are you interested in bringing highly advanced policy, project management and analytical skills to help shape Ontario's infrastructure policies and programs, then this opportunity is ideal for you. Working in a senior role with a small team of dedicated professionals, you will consult with ministries and stakeholders to tackle a range of infrastructure policy challenges, including supporting the province's long-term infrastructure plan and continuing to refine Ontario's approach to infrastructure planning and to delivering major infrastructure projects in partnership with the private sector.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Advisor who will provide expert advice related to infrastructure policy in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

In this role, you will:
• develop policy and financial advice for senior executives within the ministry
• lead and perform complex research and analysis that support the development of infrastructure policies
• brief senior executives
• consult extensively with partner ministries and stakeholders
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge:
• You have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in economics and public finance, urban planning, public policy, business administration or related disciplines.
• You can demonstrate knowledge of policy development as well as infrastructure and finance issues.
Research and analytical skills:
• You have proven research and analytical skills to be able to undertake and lead financial/statistical analysis and policy development.
• You can evaluate capital needs and capital data acquisition.
Interpersonal and communication skills:
• You have consultation and facilitation skills to interact effectively with key stakeholders to discuss technical policy issues and exchange information.
• You have presentation and persuasion skills to provide recommendations, options and impacts to senior management.
• You have the ability to prepare briefing materials for the Deputy Minister and Minister, and to present complex research analyses, reports and recommendations.
• You are able to provide advice, guidance and mentorship to team's junior staff members.
Information technology proficiency:
• You possess in-depth knowledge and experience in the use of information technology and information management.
• You have demonstrated effective computer-based quantitative and graphics skills in order to carry out spreadsheet analysis, prepare reports and correspondence, research and communicate electronically.
Project management experience:
• You have demonstrated project management, organizational and motivational abilities to lead multiple concurrent research and analytical studies/projects and portfolio assignments.
• You can make optimal use of other professional resources and inputs within and outside the government.
