Do you possess culinary expertise and strong leadership skills? If so, consider this position of Food Services Manager at the Central North Correctional Centre, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

As a committed food services professional who demonstrates high standards of integrity and ethical behaviour, you will manage the food services function in a maximum security correction centre, producing approximately 3,300 meals daily.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• Plan, supervise and coordinate food preparation, production and delivery for the institution
• Order requirements and supplies, maintaining inventories of food supplies
• Plan and post weekly menus using computerized food service software
• Establish and implement methods of operation for proper food preparation and production
• Prepare and assume responsibility for the operating budget for food services
• Supervise and train staff in production of meals, scheduling, training and development, disciplinary action
• Deliver courses and train/assess inmate food service workers

How do I qualify?

Leadership and Organizational skills:

• You have demonstrated experience leading and supervising effective and diverse teams
• You have the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders
• You have knowledge of human resources management including collective agreements, employment legislation and health and safety to supervise and train staff

Food Service and Budget Administration:

• You possess knowledge of food service management and processes including food purchasing, menu planning, restricted diets and various types of food production systems
• You possess the ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures related to food service, nutrition and waste management
• You have knowledge of budget preparation, cost control and calculation of food and labour costs for large scale food services
• You have the ability to apply government budgetary procedures and administration such as expenditure analysis and forecasting

Communication and Analytical Skills:

• You possess excellent written and oral communication skills in order to liaise with staff, inmates and stakeholders at all levels
• You possess strong judgment to determine the effective use of equipment, supply quantities, coordinate activities of the kitchen and report on inmate performance and behaviour
• You have strong analytical skills to review and administer systems and procedures, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of operations
• You have effective organizational skills with the ability to keep detailed and complex records, statements and statistical reports

Computer Skills:

• You have experience using a personal computer and software related to food production and control
