About the job
In this important role, you will:
•Provide policy advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister
•Coordinate and review policy documents, house notes, and other briefing materials
•Coordinate the review of Cabinet Submissions and other corporate initiatives
•Deliver results within very tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
•Synthesize technical information on environmental issues
•Liaise with Branches, Minister and Deputy Ministers' Offices and stakeholders
What you bring to the team
Policy Development and Environmental Knowledge:
•You know and have experience applying policy development and decision-making processes
•You can understand the theories, principles and practices of environmental science
•You can interpret and apply policies, regulations, and environmental legislation related to air, waste, land, and water issues (e.g. Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and Pesticides Act)
Analytical, Problem-Solving, and Project Management Skills:
•You have proven analytical and problem solving skills
•You know how to manage highly complex technical and contentious issues within tight timeframes.
•You have have experience in project management, coordination, and organizational skills
Decision making, Communication, and Computer Skills:
•You have well-developed consensus-building ,decision making and negotiation skills
•You interact well with all levels of staff
•You communicate in a clear and concise manner
•You have experience drafting a variety of written materials including briefing notes, reports, and correspondence.
•You know how to use computer software (e.g. MS Office)
