If you have a career interest in the management of dams and water resources, consider joining the Crown Lands Section team as a Dam Management Policy Intern to support the development of policies related to dam management, and support other policy and program development priorities of the Crown Forests and Lands Policy Branch. You will conduct policy research and analysis and prepare materials such as policy options and recommendations, discussion papers and presentation materials.

What you bring to the team


Knowledge

• You have a career interest in, or knowledge of legislative, regulatory, policy and planning tools that support dam and water management; and a general understanding of current/emerging natural resource and dam management issues

• You have a career interest in or knowledge of government policy development and consultation processes

Analytical, Research, and Organizational Skills

• You have research and analytical skills to conduct research, analyze, assess and report on complex and diverse issues with attention to detail

• You have knowledge of policy research and analysis techniques, environmental scanning, modelling and trends forecasting, including utilizing databases and websites to gather, summarize and interpret information

• Planning, organizational and time management skills to effectively participate on project teams, balance multiple tasks and work within deadlines

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

• Communication skills (oral and written) to assist in the preparation and delivery of technical reports, presentations, summaries and analyses to contribute to policy development

Computer Skills

• You have demonstrated ability to use computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Eligibility:

• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma within the last four years;
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in one MNRF 18-month placement and must not have participated in the MNRF internship program in the past.
