Are you concerned about road safety in Ontario and looking for an opportunity to use your strong research skills? If so, then the Ministry of Transportation, Road Safety Research Office is looking for you to conduct statistical analyses of large data sets and undertake qualitative research to support the development and evaluation of road safety policies and programs.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• Design and conduct complex research
• Coordinate project teams or consultants undertaking research for road safety program and policy development
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Use, develop and enhance various databases to organize and analyze data
• Project trends, assess key indicators, conduct long range forecasting and comparative data studies
• Provide technical expertise in planning, design, implementation and evaluation of road safety initiatives

What you bring to the team


Research and Data Modelling Knowledge

• You have advanced knowledge of research methods, writing and editing, data modelling and analytical techniques for conducting multi-dimensional studies
• You understand long range forecasting and can carry out comparative data studies
• You have strong knowledge of information technology, socio-economic theory and road safety trends and practices

Communication, Interpersonal and Analytical Skills

• You can communicate effectively to prepare and present reports and submissions
• You can conduct stakeholder consultations using your negotiation skills
• You have superior analytical skills to analyze and interpret complex research material and evaluate results
• You are able to work independently and demonstrate political acuity

Computer Skills

• You are proficient with personal computers, related software and databases (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
