Consider joining the health care team at the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre where you will be responsible for nursing assessments, and for providing nursing services on an assigned shift to male youth.

About the job

You will:

- provide professional nursing services and health and wellness education
- prepare and dispense medication
- provide emergency first aid
- establish and maintain medical charts and records
- contribute to a case management multi-disciplinary team approach in the provision of services to youth
- assist with relevant health care reintegration planning

NOTE: This position is irregular, on-call and will require working between 0-40 hours a week. Hours are not guaranteed.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

- Current unencumbered registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- You have current first aid and CPR certification

Technical Skills and Knowledge

You have:
- knowledge of nursing theories, practices and relevant legislation, including Regulated Health Professions Act and Health Care Consent Act
- knowledge of facility and health care policies and procedures
- knowledge of infectious disease control practices

Analytical, Problem-Solving and Communication Skills

You have:
- effective assessment, problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills
- demonstrated sound judgment to identify, evaluate and assess health care issues and emergency situations
- effective interpersonal and communication skills to present information and collaborate with youth, staff and other professionals
