The Government Service Integration Cluster (GSIC), Enterprise HR Systems Branch requires a highly skilled and innovative database administrator to support the installation, maintenance, change management, optimization, trouble-shooting and planning of PeopleSoft environments.

About the job

You will:
• provide technical direction to application developers
• support production and development systems to ensure integrity and performance levels
• support critical business operational requirements for current/future database systems, installations, maintenance, optimization, trouble shooting and back-up and recovery services
• research, evaluate and recommend innovative solutions
• perform daily administration functions and change management in support of IT operations

What you bring to the team


Database Administration Knowledge:


• Demonstrated knowledge of database management technologies and database design methods, techniques and practices (e.g. PeopleSoft HCM 9.0, 9.1, and 9.2, application, database using Mainframe, DB2, v10 & V11)
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with mainframe z/OS operating system platforms, database backup/recovery and security requirements
• Knowledge of data and information architecture (e.g. logical and physical architectures) to develop data architecture and models
• Knowledge of application database and software installations (e.g. scripting, SQL and programming), configuration, upgrades (e.g. application and database change management, capacity management)
• Demonstrated knowledge of technical performance and monitoring software to ensure database integrity and performance standards are met

Communication, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:


• Oral and written communication skills to prepare business cases, conduct feasibility studies, and to prepare and present findings and recommendations to senior management
• Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Analytical and problem solving skills to lead the development of IT solutions

Application Development Knowledge:


• Knowledge of the theory and principles of business design, systems analysis, design and development, acceptance and performance testing and related methods, including the application development life-cycle using the appropriate methodology

Project Management and Technical Leadership Knowledge and Skills:


• Demonstrate knowledge of project management methodology and techniques to lead a project team and to oversee all phases of projects from concept to implementation
• Demonstrated technical leadership skills to provide direction and support to team members
