Come showcase your leadership and project management skills as an Information Management Policy Manager with the Information Management Strategy and Policy Branch within the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

You will be responsible for the planning, development, communication and evaluation of information management strategic and operational policies, standards, legislation and regulations related to health system data and information management to support health system strategies including the overall Patients First.

About the job

As a Manager, Information Management Policy, you will:

• oversee the planning and development of policy frameworks and strategies, legislation and regulations, standards and guidelines which address a range of issues and gaps impacting information management within Ontario's health system
• manage unit staff such as hiring employees and employee relations matters including succession and diversity inclusion objectives
• oversee project teams such as determine service and project priorities, assign responsibilities/projects, and establish service levels and standards of performance
• develop and manage unit budget and support corporate planning processes and reporting, including results based planning and annual plans
• lead the development and presentation of policy papers, Cabinet submissions and briefing materials related to unit policy initiatives and information management issues
• provide strategic advice and expertise to senior management on contentious information management issues
• participate in strategic planning and decision making activities to support OPS and ministry priorities

• You have demonstrated experience with information management concepts such as privacy, data governance, data quality, and data management
• You have experience with drafting information management policy, considering the potential impacts and having the appropriate mitigations.
• You have research skills to analyze information management best practices
• You are have experience creating information management standards that take into account organizational strategies and goals

Leadership Skills

• You can develop and implement business plans for the unit.
• You can effectively inspire and manage staff, such as hire and train staff, assign work and provide guidance and direction, establish priorities and timelines, set performance standards and evaluate performance, and manage employee relations issues.
• You can provide leadership on project and work teams and drive policy development with a range of colleagues.

Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills:

• You can demonstrate your ability to develop and maintain effective relations with stakeholders.
• You have demonstrated superior written, oral and interpersonal skills and can influence and negotiate with partners and stakeholders to find collaborative solutions for complex issues.

Project Management Skills:

• You can determine project methodologies, resource requirements and deliverables and provide direction on concurrent projects.
• You can provide leadership on concurrent policy development projects and manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• You can provide financial planning to plan and manage projects and support planning processes and reporting including results based planning and annual plans.
• You can apply current research methodology/policy development tools and techniques.

Health Care Knowledge

• You have the ability to acquire knowledge and an understanding of the government health system agenda and objectives for information management, decision-making and policy development processes.
• You have knowledge of information management, principles of intellectual capital measurement and management and an understanding of how information is stored, retrieved, and shared across organizations.
• You have knowledge of health care system trends, models of delivery, funding, governance and legislation and an understanding of critical issues and concerns faced by health stakeholders.

Computer Skills:

• You are proficient with various software programs and the Internet as a research tool.
