At the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) we provide highly specialized trauma-informed mental health and developmental services. These services include Assessment, Consultation, Treatment, Research and Education. We work with local community services, building on what they have already done and use evidence based practices to adapt our approach to the unique needs of each child. CPRI is looking for Community Behaviour Consultants to provide specialized behavioural treatment and consultative service to communities and families for children and youth with complex needs that are developmentally disabled and/or have mental health disorder(s).

About the job

Working in the community as a Community Behaviour Consultant, you will:

• provide educational training and workshops
• provide case co-ordination for inpatient and outpatient clients in conjunction with caregivers and community professionals
• identify and prepare specific assessments and treatment plans for the care and treatment of individual clients.

Note: Hours range from regular office hours to late afternoon and evening depending on operational and client needs.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Successful completion of the Child and Youth Worker Program or the Developmental Services Worker program or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 years' experience in the field.
• Valid Ontario “G” Driver's License required.

Clinical knowledge and skills

• You have knowledge of relevant psychological theories as well best practices to apply a range of treatment.
•You have knowledge of child behaviour assessments, behavioural principles and related clinical skills.
• You understand developmental and mental health disorders.

Communication and interpersonal skills

• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work objectively and empathetically with parents and professionals.
• You are able to prepare reports and deliver training and workshops.

Other essential skills

•You can interpret treatment plans, gather information, discuss referral sources and participate in research initiatives.
•You can work independently and make decisions under the general guidance of the treatment team.
