About the job
In this role, you will:
• lead and conduct all Use of Force compliance audits under Section 22 of the Ministry of Correctional Services Act
• develop and implement the strategy, framework, policies and protocols for the conduct of Use of Force audits
• conduct investigations within the unit mandate and ensure compliance during audits
What you bring to the team
Technical Expertise:
• You have knowledge of institutional security, correctional operations, compliance and investigative techniques and procedures with a focus on use of force
• You have an understanding of the mandate of Correctional Services Oversight and Investigations
• You have the ability to interpret relevant policies, acts and legislation (e.g. Correctional Services Act, Adult Institutions Policy and Procedures Criminal Code)
Oral and Written Communication Skills:
• You can prepare correspondence and comprehensive audit reports and to maintain all Use of Force documentation
• You can provide recommendations and advice regarding the specific incident being reviewed
• You can provide improvements to policies and procedures and make recommendations for further investigations
Analytical, Organizational and Computer Skills:
• You can plan and coordinate Use of Force audits
• You can analyze and recommend creative solutions to complex and contentious use of force and compliance issues
• You have the ability to work independently and use discretion when working with sensitive and contentious Use of Force issues
• You are proficient in computer applications to extract and analyze information and to use word-processing, spreadsheet and email applications
