Come and join our dynamic team where you will maintain a wide range of electronic equipment, teaching aids, computer-assisted range equipment, telecommunications system and audio-visual (A/V) equipment at the Ontario Police College (OPC).
About the job
•Maintain a computer-assisted, 16 position firing range by carrying out regular weekly preventative maintenance.
•Maintain and coordinate the Ontario Police College telephone system.
•Assists users in analyzing their information requirements and accommodates their needs within the system's capabilities
•Set up and operates various audio visual equipment for classroom use and seminars
•Design, build and modify A/V equipment or electronic components to meet user needs
•Arrange for preventative maintenance and monitor contractors work to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions
•Prepare budget estimates for approval, and administer budget allocation
•Establish and maintain program records, and maintain video tape library for the police services' video co-op
•Performs other duties, as assigned.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Must be able to pass an OPP background security investigation.
Knowledge
You have:
•Knowledge of current A/V equipment, electronics products and equipment, and telecommunications systems
•Knowledge of maintenance and repair methods and procedures and equipment required to perform repairs to electronic teaching aids such as monitors and projectors, and standby power and computer-controlled ranges
•Knowledge of traffic planning and engineering as it relates to telephone systems to ensure appropriate level of service to the Ontario Police College
Problem Solving Skills
•You can assist users in analyzing their information requirements, and determine whether needs can be met or additional hardware and software technology needs to be purchased
•You have ability to identify and resolve technical problems, and take corrective action and/or refer the problem to the IT Division for resolution
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
•You have demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with Ministry services, users and external suppliers to exchange information
•You have ability to resolve common problems and identify future needs
•You can provide assistance and technical guidance to users in determining their needs, and on equipment/system use and problem resolution.
•You can liaise with a variety of internal/external contractors to coordinate projects
•You possess written skills to develop technical standards and document work
