The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Communications and Technology Services, reporting to Manager, Records Management Systems and Geographic Information Systems (RMS/GIS) Unit seeks a qualified person to provide software development and technical knowledge skills to analyze and implement recommendations for the development and improvement of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)'s primary Records Management System (RMS).
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.
Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
Ability to achieve Ministry technical accreditation standards, including the cluster Domain Administrator's test.
Ability to work on regular scheduled on-call basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in the following programming languages: C#, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Extensible Application Markup Language (XAML), Extensible Markup Language (XML) Structured Query Language (SQL).
Knowledge of the following programming languages: Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), JavaScript, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Transact-Structured Query Language (T-SQL).
Knowledge of development of network services within recognized network management practices and ITIL. Current and emerging Microsoft Operating Systems for servers and desktops; Microsoft Office products and all related applications with proficiency in Excel; Virtual Private Network hardware and software; Firewalls and Public Key Infrastructure applications; Network communication protocols; network architecture and topologies.
Knowledge of database and specialized test and monitoring software.
Knowledge of computer concepts, systems development methods and techniques; information architecture data modeling, object oriented and traditional structured programming knowledge; and Internet and other emerging technologies to coordinate installation and testing of equipment and new systems, and provide feedback on performance. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work within a team environment and work under pressure, organize work, lead a team and direct tasks and assignments to meet deadlines.
Possess analytical and problem solving skills to identify root cause, determine and resolve technical malfunctions, recommend solutions such as programming/application changes and reconfiguration of hardware/software, and utilize programming tools, languages and design program specifications encompassing program structure & logic, data flow and construction to OPS standards.
Ability to re-prioritize and quickly adapt to changing priorities and pressures; ability to make decisions when working independently.
Open to new ideas and taking new approaches with an understanding of the strategic implications of new ideas and looks to the future to explore evolving needs and new technology.
