About the job

Reporting to the Director Financial Services, the Manager, Business Transformation manages the coordination of the evolving GO and UP Express Fare Collection Systems to efficiently and effectively manage the business and operational implementation and impacts on all related offices, policies, and workforce constituents, and to provide for an effective and efficient program of change, including training, tools, processes, and ongoing support and communication.

• Managing and transforming the fare collection system of GO Transit and UP Express to fit more closely with corporate vision, strategy and policies via alignment of people, processes and technology.
• Managing in conjunction with the Fare Systems Department, the PRESTO Division, and fare system vendors, the implementation of the PRESTO Smart Card System and supportive fare systems for GO Transit and UP Express Divisions.
• Managing and coordinating with relevant business units to inform, explain, manage change, and promote all aspects of the new functional changes and new software releases for the Presto Smart Card fare system and supportive fare systems to internal and external GO and UP Express customers.
• Working with business units to develop and implement fare systems related policies and procedures.
• Providing fare systems project management including the development of project charters, management of budgets, development of implementation schedules, and leading the business change request process.
• Working with vendors and relevant business units to transition fare systems projects to operations teams.
• Support GO and UP Express business units and liaise with fare system vendors' Operations teams on resolving operational issues.
• Develop or redesign processes to support new functional requirements or fare policy.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholder groups and vendors

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Completion of a degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
• Minimum eight (8) years' experience in the management of large, complex information technology and business transformation projects from conception through to successful implementation
• Certification in information technology project management is an asset
• Experience managing large, complex information technology and business transformation projects from conception through to successful implementation
• Thorough knowledge of change management practice and business process design.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills. Ability to comprehend the implications of working in a union environment.
• Experience with transit fare collection projects and projects in the financial services industry are an asset.
