Bring your professional expertise as a Psychometrist to the Central East Correctional Centre where you will provide psychometric services within a multi-disciplinary framework.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• Perform psychological and bio-physical investigation and assessment, including the selection, administration, scoring and interpretation of standardized and non-standardized assessment techniques
• Investigate and assess behavioural disorders and psycho-physiological dysfunction through interviews, rating scales, psychological and observational methods
• Participate in the development and implementation of psychotherapeutic treatment programs and rehabilitative strategies
• Provide consultation services to offenders and staff
• Participate in psychological research projects

What you bring to the team


Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• You have a broad knowledge of psychological theories, methods and practices, including human development theories, and the principles, theories and alternative explanations/hypotheses available in diagnosis and treatment
• You can apply this knowledge to a range of treatment activities (e.g., counselling, interviewing, individual and group therapy, etc.)
• You have knowledge of specialized tests, objective and projective and their appropriate selection, administration, utilization and interpretation to perform investigations and assessments

Analytical and Reasoning Skills

• You can determine the nature of psychological dysfunction using psychological tests and their interpretation within broad guidelines
• You can determine, develop and recommend appropriate treatment and rehabilitative programs
• You can identify services available to offenders integrating into a community setting

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You can conduct interviews with offenders, and provide explanation to staff and/or offenders on the administration of psychological testes
• You can assist with group counseling sessions and staff training
• You can demonstrate tact and sensitivity when interpreting and clarifying test results, an /or exchanging information with offenders
• You can work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Statistical Analysis and Research Skills

• You have knowledge of statistics, research design and methodology
• You can use computer systems and records for psychopathology analysis
