Consider this excellent opportunity to join the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Mapping and Information Resources Branch as a self-motivated and results orientated Coordinator to skillfully manage the Crown Land Surveys Unit.
• PLEASE NOTE: Consideration will be given to licensed land surveyors from other jurisdictions in Canada or those capable of obtaining a license in Ontario within the first 6 months of employment.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Your role will involve:
• organizing and directing provincial Crown land survey operations for the management of public land
• undertaking surveys for ministry programs
• providing expert cadastral survey advice on survey matters to ministry staff, program areas, other government departments and the public
• identifying and prioritizing program requirements within Ministry policies and ensuring achievement of client objectives
How do I qualify?
Mandatory requirements:
• You are a licensed Cadastral Ontario Land Surveyor in good standing with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors or have the ability to obtain a license within the first six months of employment (e.g. Licensed members from other Canadian jurisdictions).
• You have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
Leadership skills:
• You have demonstrated strategic leadership, supervisory and team building skills to manage staff, carry out performance reviews, provide training and development as well as handle disciplinary and labor relations matters.
Technical knowledge:
• You have thorough knowledge of theories, principles and practices of cadastral land surveying, land management and related legislation, case law and technological trends with focus on public lands.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You have interpersonal skills to deal with staff, clients and the general public.
• You have sound communication skills to liaise with all levels of government, surveyors and lawyers and to make presentations.
• You have advanced writing skills to prepare minister letters, briefing notes, professional reports, policies and proposed legislation.
Judgment and analytical skills:
• You have judgment and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply policies, acts, and regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
• You have analytical skills to identify program needs and adapt methods to meet the demands.
Project management skills:
• You have demonstrated project management experience, time management and planning skills to coordinate human, financial and material resources to achieve program objectives.
