What can I expect to do in this role?

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Communications and Technology Services seeks a qualified person to provide technical support, analysis, expertise, advice and recommendations which utilize complex technology for improvements to the Ontario Provincial Police, Municipal Police Services, Ministry and front line operational processes and systems in a 7/24 environment.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.

Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.

Ability to achieve Ministry technical accreditation standards.

Ability to work on a regularly scheduled on-call basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Job requires knowledge of current and emerging: Microsoft Operating Systems for servers and desktops; Microsoft Office products and all related applications; Virtual Private Network (VPN) hardware and software; Firewalls and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) applications; Network communication protocols; network architecture and topologies; imaging and OS/application patching support methodologies & tools; handheld technologies; virtualized environments; archive and backup methodologies; NAS and SAN storage technologies; disaster recovery environments; mobile command systems and non-OPS supplied carrier offerings.

Knowledge of database and specialized test and monitoring software.

Knowledge of computer concepts, systems development methods and techniques; information architecture data modeling, object oriented and traditional structured programming knowledge; and Internet and other emerging technologies to coordinate installation and testing of equipment and new systems, and provide feedback on performance.

Knowledge and understanding of end user licensing agreements in order to fulfill service obligations.

Ability to use mobile and remote tools and bar code technology to provide accurate data.

Knowledge of asset management system to maintain inventory of technology assets in database,

Comprehensive knowledge of SharePoint infrastructure, installation, configuration, services, operations and administration in an enterprise environment; knowledge of SharePoint architecture, development, testing, dev/ops and deployment methodologies; general Web-based and ASP.Net architecture and development; SharePoint Information Architecture concepts and implementation best practices; SharePoint features sets and workloads; SharePoint records management features; SharePoint governance issues and implementation strategies; SharePoint specific development tools and paradigms; SharePoint central admin and PowerShell.
