About the job

As part of the team with the Business Planning Branch, where your focus will be on program development and evaluation, you will:

• assist in the development of financial reports and estimates preparation
• contribute to the development and implementation of business planning and financial reporting in support of the monitoring and review of budgets and financial performance
• participate in financial and administrative projects/reviews and contribute to the development of internal communications materials and resources
• provide advice and support to staff on financial reporting and expenditure management processes

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You must have graduated from a college or university, with a degree, diploma or post-graduate certificate, within the past 5 years.
• You must be an Indigenous person (i.e. First Nations, Métis, Inuit).

Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of general financial and accounting principles, policies and processes, including budget and financial forecasting, and estimates planning.
• You have knowledge of general approaches and considerations for resource planning, business planning, program development and performance measurement.
• You have knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles to contribute to ministry assessments on financial and non-financial issues.

Analytical and problem-solving skills:

• You can analyze financial information and provide input into business planning, expenditure management and financial decision-making processes.
• You can assist in the analysis of ministry and program proposals for accuracy and completeness and consolidate and report program financial performance data, identify variances and risks, and areas for further analysis.

Planning and organizational skills:

• You are able to manage multiple tasks, determine work priorities and ensure deadlines are met.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You have the ability to prepare reports, make presentations and provide explanations and advice.
• You can establish effective working relationships and participate on committees, project teams and working groups.

Computer skills:

• You are proficient using information and financial management programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet and email).
