Support the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation's (OTMPC) mandate to enhance the growth of Ontario's tourism sector by developing and implementing strategic partnerships with the tourism industry to promote marketing opportunities and tourism experiences.
As the Partnership Coordinator you will provide consultative advice, marketing expertise and support to the northern tourism industry to facilitate the marketing of Northern Ontario as a tourism destination in order to promote growth and economic and employment opportunities in the North.
About the job
1. Provide marketing expertise and consultative advice to regional operators, working collaboratively with working collaboratively with Regional Tourism Organizations with emphasis on RTO 12 and RTO 13, the OTMPC Northern Committee, Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), municipalities and industry public and private sector tourism operators to market Northern Ontario as a tourism destination.
2. Plan, develop and implement Ontario based marketing programs. The campaigns are developed in consultation with the Agency of Record and industry partners.
3. Manage the assigned budget for delivery of marketing campaign.
4. Develop new partnerships and maintaining existing relationships, selling OTMPC products, communicating with industry stakeholders, and championing the partnership efforts on a regional basis with such ongoing contacts as the public, private and community organizations within Ontario
and border U.S. states
5. Lead, facilitate and provide consultative advice and support to municipalities, communities, and associations and public and private sector tourism operators including identifying and addressing marketing concerns, issues, trends and new developments established on behalf of the OTMPC's Northern Committee.
6. Attend Northern Committee meetings to provide regional, sector and product specific expertise to the Committee.
7. Analyze consumer research, identifying gaps and developing products in conjunction with OTMPC Product Facilitators and industry stakeholders in the northern tourism sector.
8. Represent the OTMPC northern office by working with colleagues in the OTMPC and industry to coordinate and deliver marketing activities attending industry meetings, conventions and events.
9. Plan and establish Partnership Forums in Northern Ontario in conjunction with OTMPC sales and marketing staff.
10. Provide input to the development and implementation of a business and marketing plan for Northern Ontario and establishing program and partner contributions and projects.
Note: The successful candidate will have the option of working either at the Sudbury or Sault Ste Marie location.
What you bring to the team
Consumer and Marketing Knowledge:
• the ability to provide marketing expertise to facilitate the marketing of Northern Ontario as a tourism designation
• knowledge of consumer marketing research methods and the use of consumer market research in the development of marketing programs reaching a specific demographic group within specified domestic, and international markets.
• knowledge of financial, marketing and government corporate administrative procedures as it relates to the approval of consumer based marketing programs.
• knowledge of regional, provincial and international issues which may impact the funding and partnership development activities of northern marketing initiatives
• the ability to develop and implement media and marketing plans for the fishing and hunting industry that relate to Northern Ontario, as well as support Northern tourism.
Strategic Tourism and Business Partnerships Knowledge:
You have:
• the understanding and knowledge of the tourism industry at any given time for Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and border U.S. states including the motivating factors at any time behind consumers desires to travel or not travel to Ontario and in particular northern Ontario.
• the ability to develop business partnerships with tourism industry representatives
• the ability to coordinate the sale of OTMPC products and establish and manage contracts with stakeholders in the north to ensure negotiated terms and conditions are met
• knowledge of Ontario's tourism marketing strategy and the ability to understand the goals/objectives of the OTMPC as it relates to northern tourism to ensure northern marketing programs are consistent with the broad framework of the OTMPC and Ontario tourism marketing strategies.
Other Essential Skills:
You have:
• the ability to analyze consumer research and identify gaps requiring the development of tourism products to market Northern Ontario as a tourism destination
• the ability to track all partner contributions, cash and in-kind and leveraged contributions per partner and to negotiate sales agreements.
• the ability to prepare briefing notes and correspondence in accordance with established ministry guidelines and to prepare reports for and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• ability to liaise with OTMPC staff and staff of other ministries, governments and private sector organizations to obtain and share information and resources.
