The Northern Development Division is responsible for delivering Ontario government programs, services and information across the North, promoting economic growth and investment in Northern Ontario, ensuring that government policies and programs reflect a northern perspective, gathering input from northern stakeholders and keeping them informed of government initiatives affecting Northern Ontario.
Reporting to Assistant Deputy Minister, Northern Development and accountable to the Board of Directors of the NOHFC, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic, management, and daily operation of the NOHFC, a one hundred million dollar economic development fund.
About the job
In this critical senior management role, you will work closely with board members and ministry representatives to:
• Establish, implement, and report on the direction and strategic priorities for the corporation
• Ensure that sound economic development proposals are brought forward to the board and implemented effectively
• Ensure the board is governed and supported effectively
• Ensure financial management of the corporation complies with the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Act and related government directives
• Collaborate with all levels of government and a wide range of northern Ontario communities, businesses and other stakeholders to influence co-operation and partnerships, address sensitive issues that require a high degree of political acuity and raise awareness of the NOHFC.

• You have extensive experience engaging, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicating and influencing across a broad spectrum of organizations.Northern Development Knowledge:
• Your background includes experience leading economic development and community development initiatives.
• You understand business expansion, development and innovation, and are experienced in attracting new business to Northern communities.
• You have gained significant knowledge of Northern Ontario perspectives, geography, demographics and economic and social development issues.Technical Knowledge:
• You have strong financial acumen and experience, including experience with financial management and controllership.
• You have exceptional oral and written communications skills, with the ability to develop and present information effectively to senior management, individuals and groups.
