About the job
As a key divisional resource, you will:
• plan and lead the coordination and provision of centralized financial, human resources, business, fiscal and operational planning and management to support the programs, policies and projects of the Division
• provide direct support to the Assistant Deputy Minister for a range of fiscal and operational programs
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You are proficient in verbal and written French at the Advanced Minus level (Click the 'more information' link to read more about the Ontario Public Service's French proficiency levels).
Financial and accounting knowledge:
• You have demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting principles, policies and processes.
• You understand financial statements and program analysis methods to facilitate financial reporting and accountability, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information and contribute to the development of financial systems and processes.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of budget allocation/tracking processes, expenditure forecasts/budgets and performance, and variance/risk analysis to assess cost efficiency of programs and advise managers on fiscal matters.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
• You have collaboration skills to work effectively with senior staff to address complex financial issues (e.g. developing ministry estimates, developing effective information and reporting processes).
• You have consultation and client relationship skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff throughout the division and ministry.
• You can present information clearly and persuasively.
Organizational and planning skills:
• You have organizational, coordination and team leadership skills to plan and prioritize activities and provide guidance to staff in an environment with tight and conflicting deadlines.
• You have planning skills to coordinate the development, analysis, control and monitoring of financial information and the functions of financial systems for the division.
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
• You can analyse, interpret, and assess financial information requests and formulate timely, effective recommendations for management.
• You can interpret and apply financial directives and policies in support of business planning, budget development/ management and financial forecasting and reporting.
• You can evaluate financial performance, assess cost efficiency and risk potential of program options/activities, and advise on resolving accounting issues.
