About the job

You will:
• provide risk assessment reports to Ontario Parole Board
• provide a wide variety of psychological services related to the diagnosis, treatment and assessment of inmates
• provide a full range of psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques, to plan, conduct and co-ordinate psychological services, apply complex treatment techniques, and provide consultation and advice on diagnosis and treatment
• provide consultation and advice to the management team
• facilitate psychological rehabilitation, conduct therapy and administer, evaluate and interpret psychological tests
• organize and conduct research and program evaluation projects
• assist in staff training

What you bring to the team


Mandatory Requirements:

• you are registered in good standing as a Psychologist in the Province of Ontario

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• you have demonstrated knowledge of professional standards of practice
• you have demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practices of psychology, including current rehabilitative, treatment and assessment techniques
• you have effective knowledge of forensic psychological assessment tools and techniques
• you have proven knowledge of the application and interpretation of assessment instruments to evaluate intellectual and personality functioning
• you have demonstrated knowledge of program evaluation and research techniques to evaluate program effectiveness and develop and conduct research projects
• you have knowledge of computer programs to operate Windows based applications and software

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• you have interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships with multidisciplinary team members
• you have demonstrated skills in communicating information and conducting therapy and counseling sessions
• you have demonstrated ability to assist in professional supervision of placement students and participate in staff training

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• you are skilled in making diagnoses and recommending appropriate treatment interventions
• you have proven analytical and problem solving skills to provide diagnostic assessments, formulate, deliver and evaluate treatment, crisis intervention and rehabilitation plans and programs
• you have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation (e.g., consent to treatment, care and retention of records, Regulated Health Professionals Act, Mental Health Act, privacy legislation, limits to privacy and confidentiality)
