About the job

You will:

• champion research to inform the development of evidence-based, strategic communications plans for complex, high-profile, transformative, multi-ministry initiatives
• lead project teams, both within Treasury Board Secretariat and across line ministries
• project manage a number of complex but interesting and innovative projects
• provide expertise, advice and information, both written and verbal, to a range of high-profile clients including senior management
• research, write and edit a range of tactical products, including news releases, speeches, web content, Q&As, scripts, memos and backgrounders, and co-ordinate and plan media events for the Minister
• provide leadership, expertise and strategic issues management advice on a range of communications activities
• consistently and robustly evaluate communications activities against stated objectives

What you bring to the team


Technical Expertise

- you have knowledge of contemporary communications theory, principles and practices
- you have experience developing high-quality strategic communications plans and products, with a focus on evidence-based planning, SMART objectives and evaluation
- you have knowledge of and experience with senior-level strategic planning

Communication Skills

- you have excellent communication and presentation skills to influence and provide consultation to a wide range of audiences
- you have superior writing and editing skills to produce communications products

Leadership and Project Management

- you demonstrate leadership skills when working as part of a project team
- you have strong project management skills and experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating communications projects

Relationship Management

- you have strong relationship management skills to liaise with project teams/committees, partners, stakeholders and vendors
- you can develop effective partnerships
- you demonstrate conflict resolution and consensus building skills

Research and Analytical Skills

- you have strong research and analytical skills to identify, assess the relevance of, and use a broad range of information
