• conduct research and analysis on a wide range of wildlife and rabies research projects
• provide technical assistance and support to various programs and projects

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements:

• You possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You are and/or are willing to be vaccinated against the rabies virus.
• You are capable of working in low altitude aircraft (twin otter, beaver, and helicopter).
• You are capable of working in adverse weather conditions, around water and uneven terrain.

Technical knowledge and skills:

• You have proven experience working in lab and field operations.
• You have knowledge of and the ability to use laboratory techniques.
• You have experience working with laboratory equipment, including use of live-traps, isomet saws, and autopsy equipment.
• You have the ability to use general lab and field equipment to collect and process specimens for biological data.
• You have basic knowledge in mammalian anatomy.
• You have knowledge of wildlife research and management techniques and principles.

Leadership/Team skills:

• You have proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
• You have leadership skills to work as a team member and as a team leader to provide daily supervision and coaching to staff.
• You have the ability to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensure team members working with you are following workplace regulations.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You can communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy to provide ongoing updates to supervisor and other team members through regular meetings and discussions.
• You have interpersonal skills to provide training and instruction to staff.

Computer skills:

• You have well developed knowledge and skills working with computers and computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets and data entry.
• You can prepare data summaries and preliminary analysis in electronic format.
