About the job

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, Ontario Provincial Police, Commander, Business Management Bureau is seeking an individual to provide specialized analysis and consulting expertise in the definition of information management requirements and in the management and co-ordination of large, technically complex information management projects/initiatives for the OPP, Ministry and/or business unit specific functions.

Mandatory requirements

Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Information Management systems design and technology integration, architecture, business analysis and analysis techniques, of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles and practices, and of all stages of diverse, large-scale systems and technology development, technology acquisition and maintenance projects to provide Information Management systems development and systems integration and architecture expertise, technology testing and conversion plans.

Ability to apply information and project management methodologies as per the industry standards in order to lead large, IT-based projects and business analysis skills to manage assigned projects and resolve information management technical/systems problems and issues.

Analytical and evaluative skills to conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and develop Information Management systems strategies and proposals; and to assess and evaluate new methods, technologies and techniques for potential use and impact of changes within system and make suitable recommendations.

Oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Ability to identify and analyze user objectives, conducting Information Management needs analysis; conducts business case evaluations to assess and recommend alternative solutions to various Information Management problems; advises on the resolution of problems and issues.

Ability to manage Information Management projects on a day-to-day basis, makes decisions in the areas of time management, determining user needs, solution development and recommendations, and budget and project team oversight.

Leadership skills to make recommendations regarding project timelines, issue documents, selection of vendors from proposal submissions, business case options and recommendations.

Ability to escalate/expedite serious issues to upper management and recommends solutions.
