About the job

Under the guidance of the Coordinator of Psychological Services, you will:
• work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals within a case management model
• provide psychological assessment and treatment services to youth in detention and custody
• conduct individual, group and family therapies and crisis intervention
• provide consultation and recommendations to other team members and facility management
• design and conduct research projects
• supervise and evaluate treatment programs

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You have your PhD in psychology from a university of recognized standing
• You are registered as a Psychologist in the Province of Ontario; or, you are eligible to be on the temporary registrar with the College of Psychologists in Ontario

Psychological Knowledge and Skills

• You have knowledge of psychology, rehabilitative, treatment and assessment techniques, practices and theories applicable to youth.
• You have knowledge of psychological assessment tools and techniques, and how they apply to youth and forensic populations.
• You have knowledge of program evaluation with analytical and problem-solving skills to formulate and evaluate treatment and interventions.
• You have general knowledge of professional standards of practice and relevant legislation such as consent to treatment, Mental Health Act, and privacy.

Other Essential Skills:

• You have interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary setting.
• You have written communication and basic computer skills to prepare reports.

Note:

  You will be responsible for obtaining the criminal record check at your own expense and provide it, along with your written consent, to the Transition and Security Office (TSO), HR Service Delivery Division to evaluate the results. If applicable, the TSO, with your written consent, will request and obtain any additional screening checks as indicated in the Additional Information / Address section above that were not obtained directly by you. (Note: If a Vulnerable Sector Screening/Check is required, it must also be obtained in person at your local police service.)

The screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision. The details of an individual's screening check(s) will be considered in specific relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position being filled. Screening check records will be maintained by the TSO and kept strictly confidential.
