• Provide a wide variety of psychological services related to the diagnosis, treatment, assessment and evaluation of offenders
• Facilitate psychological rehabilitation, conduct therapy, and administer, evaluate and interpret psychological tests
• Provide consultation and advice to the management team
• Organize and conduct research and program evaluation projects
• Assist in staff training

What you bring to the team


Mandatory Requirement

• You are registered in good standing as a Psychologist in autonomous OR supervised practice in the Province of Ontario

Expertise in Psychology

• You have demonstrated knowledge of science and practices of psychology, including psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques to plan, conduct and coordinate services
• You can apply complex treatment techniques and provide consultation and advice on diagnosis and treatment of offenders
• You have knowledge of forensic psychological theories, practices and procedures
• You have experience with program evaluation techniques

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have strong oral and written communication skills to communicate information regarding assessment approaches, findings and treatment/rehabilitative activities
• You are able to persuade offenders to accept treatment and encourage offender acceptance of psychological services in the community
• You can maintain strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary staff and staff of the community agencies

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

• You are able to determine the most appropriate diagnostic approaches from a range of alternatives
• You can evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and rehabilitative programs

Other Essential Skills

• You can organize, co-ordinate and supervise psychological services
• You have demonstrated diplomacy and tact in order to gain the confidence of clients, staff, and supervisor
• You can use discretion and sensitivity when discussing diagnosis, treatment, and progress with the offenders and in working with the families
