About the job

In this job, you will:
• Assess physical and emotional abilities and attitudes of drivers
• Recommend corrective actions such as suspension of driver's licences, defensive driving course or a medical review
• Conduct senior driver group education sessions
• Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour when representing the ministry to clients and stakeholders

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• Valid 'G' driver's license with a good driving record

Technical Knowledge

• You can interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures (e.g. Highway Traffic Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act)
• You have knowledge of defensive driving techniques and can recommend training and demonstrate best practices

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

• You can communicate with tact and diplomacy to effectively interview and counsel drivers about sensitive information and situations
• You can prepare reports and other written correspondence
• You have proven presentation and facilitation skills to conduct group education sessions
• You have interviewing skills to solicit information from clients when conducting counselling sessions

Judgement & Analytical Skills

• You can review and assess information and compare it to standards and requirements
• You have the proven ability to exercise good judgement when determining and recommending appropriate courses of action

Computer Skills

• You have demonstrated skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and online database systems
